Press Release Thunder Hag & A_Scissors Present "Gift of the Magi" for ArtsFest 2011
Audubon Park Community Market @ Stardust Video & Coffee 1842 E Winter Park Road, Winter Park, Florida 32803
February 7th, 2011 at 9:30pm Free "Gift of the Magi" is a tale of doomed love told with marionettes, set to live music by A_Scissors. A stupid girl's flighty nature is exposed by the magical moon while a crocodile is half-transformed by love only to find herself still driven by her animal instincts. Impossibility, anthropomorphism, and a gorgeous electronic score bring the story to life live in a 30-minute, outdoor performance at Stardust Video & Coffee during the Audubon Park Community Market.
Thunder Hag
Hannah Miller is an award-winning puppeteer and artist currently employed by Heather Henson's Ibex Puppetry. This ArtsFest performance is her second recognition from United Arts of Central Florida in as many years. Hannah is also known for marrying stranger Brian Feldman last year in a protest performance and for her prolific local musical performances.
a_Scissors
Brian Cunningham is a Florida-based electronic musician, whose compositions and live performances are lush musical tapestries woven from poignant flowing melodies, coalescing rhythms, delicately placed vocal samples, and ambient soundscapes. Avoiding computers for production and using hardware such as synthesizers, sequencers, samplers, and drum machines, a_Scissors music translates best in a live setting, creating a stage performance as organic as that of a band. a_Scissors is influenced by many different artists, including Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, Nathan Fake, and Boards of Canada. Audubon Community Market
The Audubon Park Community Market is Central Florida’s source for the best selection of truly local food, from produce and other farm goods to prepared foods, grocery items and meals. We work hard to bring you food that is grown, raised, caught, or carefully made right here in Florida, emphasizing freshness and encouraging sustainable practices. The market is a community of growers, ranchers, fishermen, chefs, artists, handicrafters, musicians and neighbors. This Ourlando-sponsored, volunteer-operated, weekly gathering of food, friends, art, and live music takes place in the Stardust parking lot every Monday from 6pm to 10pm.
